10 Most Notorious WWE Urban Legends Involving Celebrities

3. Mr. T Had Legitimate Heat With Roddy Piper

Story: Roddy Piper had a boxing match with Mr. T at WrestleMania II. It wasn't very good. If you've seen it then you know. It was based off their interaction from a year earlier. Mr. T was a huge celebrity, so it was a major coup for WWE to get him for a second WrestleMania in a row. What we didn't know back then is that they didn't like each other. There was a legit feud between them. Earlier this year, Piper was on Steve Austin's podcast and he talked about problems with Mr. T: "Mr. T wants to come in and he€™s probably the world€™s biggest TV celebrity at the time, and he won some kind of bouncer contest. He came in with, 'I pity the fool I€™m T' with that, and he wanted to come in and slam our heads, and make fun of us, and go (laughs). You got the wrong guy. He had zero respect. I€™m on the stage in Rockefeller Center and he blindsides me and leg dives me off of the stage. I come off and (Vince) McMahon said, 'I saw those eyes of yours. Thank you for being a pro.'" In other words, Vince knew Roddy hated him, but he was thankful that Piper didn't legitimately try to hurt him. There were more stories told by Piper. Basically, they had trouble agreeing on what they should do in the boxing match and they didn't get along well. Following this year's Hall of Fame where Mr. T was inducted, Piper told a story about how they both had their sons with them, then started talking to Mr. T and they shook hands, ending their rivalry after nearly 30 years. Why People Believe It: Piper is a guy that always took wrestling a bit too serious and if he felt disrespected by somebody then he was going to let that person know. It's understandable that they had issues. Should We Believe It: Yes. Absolutely. Piper's one of the best wrestlers ever, but he's also somebody that is very hot headed. WWE is lucky that Piper was able to keep his composure to the best of his abilities.
