2. Mickey Rourke Wanted To Fight Chris Jericho

Story: This is a story that Chris Jericho detailed in his new book "Best In The World" where he talked about how he was supposed to have a match with actor Mickey Rourke at WrestleMania 25. Instead, Rourke's people got him to back out of it because they thought it would hurt his chances of winning an Oscar for his performance in The Wrestler. Prior to their interaction, they did a segment on the Larry King Live show on CNN where Jericho was doing his heel character schtick. He stayed in character the whole time, insulted Rourke repeatedly and figured he was just doing his job. Rourke wasn't in on the plan, though. Apparently he legitimately hated for it. On the night prior to WrestleMania 25 in 2009, Rourke was waiting for him in the ring on the Saturday night before WrestleMania with three bodyguards (one of them was MMA legend Frank Shamrock) at his side. Jericho explained that he was just acting on the Larry King show. Rourke had no idea. He wanted to fight Jericho because of his comments and brought bodyguards with him in case other WWE people got in their way. Cooler heads prevailed. Everything was okay after Jericho explained it. As Jericho bragged in his book, he "out-acted the actor" in that instance. Rourke ended up not working the match, but he knocked Jericho following Jericho's match against three older wrestlers. Why People Believe It: People that aren't in wrestling like Rourke may not have understood that Jericho was only acting, so it's believable that he may have wanted to legitimately fight him. Should We Believe It: Yes. It's in Jericho's book and he's known as an honest guy. It's silly that Rourke didn't know it was just a work, though. Somebody should have informed him before they were on the Larry King show to prevent any problems.
