10 NXT Gimmicks That Are Too Goofy For WWE's Main Roster

1. Adam Rose

Yes, technically Adam Rose is already on WWE€™s main roster as we€™ve seen him compete on Raw and Smackdown regularly, but the Adam Rose character is the perfect example of how a gimmick that works on a smaller stage like NXT can still potentially fail to connect with much larger, more casual WWE Universe. Adam Rose is the party man, and when he comes out he loves to party and dance with his fellow Rosebuds. As extravagant and fun as Adam Rose might be, the fans act like a bunch of lemons when he comes out to perform. He€™s currently working with guys like Fandango and Damien Sandow (poor, poor Sandow) in order to get the fans on his side, but week after week they appear to be indifferent to Adam Rose. It€™s a far cry from the NXT days when Rose would actually get the crowd to sing his theme song while he was in the ring. Maybe if WWE had a certain direction for Rose, the character could grow a bigger following of Rosebuds, but they seem to be making it up as they go along. On the most recent edition of Raw, there was a very strange backstage segment with Adam Rose where he encountered a mirror that showed his €œevil self€ wearing a business suit. It was done to promote the movie Oculus, but it did nothing to make fans care about Adam Rose at all. It was a stupid segment to promote a movie, and that€™s what Adam Rose has been reduced to; an outlet for plugs. Let€™s hope the other NXT members don€™t end up like this when they join the main roster.
