Comic books have influenced wrestlers for years.

Rey Mysterio regularly wears ring attire inspired by his favourite characters, Sting wrestled a gimmick based on The Crow, while The Hurricane and Rosey were meant to be WWE's resident superheroes.

During his time away from wrestling, CM Punk dabbled in writing for Marvel Comics. The Chick Magnet began his career by contributing to Avengers Vs. X-Men in 2012, then co-wrote Thor Annual #1 three years later. He jumped over to DC Comics in the same year to write a story for the Strange Sports Stories #3 anthology, then debuted his first solo-written comic book with Master of Kung Fu #126 in 2017. It could've been the start of something special, but Punk put comic books on hold when he joined All Elite Wrestling.

He's not the only wrestler to write comic books though.

Raven wrote for Spider-Man's Tangled Web #14 in 2002. Having fought in all three major wrestling promotions of the late 1990s and early 2000s, the 26-time Hardcore Champion contributed to a story that tied into WWE more than people realise. The story was all about Crusher Hogan, a character who was replaced in the 2002 Spider-Man film by Bonesaw McGraw, played by none other than "Macho Man" Randy Savage. The story was even called The Last Shoot; everything comes full circle in this business.

When I'm not trying my hardest to visit all 50 U.S. states, I'm listening to music from the 80s, watching TV from the 90s, and reminiscing about growing up in the 00s. I'm currently living in Melbourne, Australia so WWE premium live events are on Sunday afternoons for me; the absolute dream.
