9. Bret Hart's Crowning Was Vince's Way Of Placating Him
Losing the WWF Heavyweight Title to Yokozuna at WrestleMania IX didn't seem like too much of a problem for Bret 'Hitman' Hart. Indeed, the big Samoan was somebody Hart felt he could have a good series of matches with, despite his size, and he was pleased with their match at 'Mania. What didn't make the Canadian happy was when Hulk Hogan was booked to ride to his rescue immediately following Yoko's victory, defeating the gargantuan grappler in quick order and winning the title himself. Not only did Hart feel 2 title changes in the same evening devalued the belt, but he had been led to believe that Hogan's time in the sun was over. Worse yet, it appeared that Hulk wasn't interested in working a program with Bret, deeming him too small. A rumoured Summerslam 1993 match didn't appear to be happening, but Hart would win the first ever King Of The Ring on Pay-Per-View the same year. It seems this was Vince McMahon's way of letting Hart be the best wrestler in the company, whilst still trying to focus on Hogan's star power.
