10 Occupational Gimmicks From WWE's PG Era

9. The Spirit Squad - Cheerleaders

When 2015 went to sleep and woke up as 2016 you would have gotten long odds on Kenny and Mikey returning to reform the Spirit Squad on SmackDown Live. Return and reform they have, and whilst they aren't likely to be regaining the tag titles any time soon, their green jumpsuits have been a welcome addition to the WWE roster.

The Spirit Squad haven't exactly been doing much cheering since returning to the WWE, but the cheerleading aspect of the gimmick is still intact. Whilst many will stick their hands in the air to claim that cheerleading isn't an occupation, those doing so would be wrong. Cheerleading is indeed a job, albeit widely considered one of the worst.

What became of Johnny and Mitch? Does anyone care?

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
