10 Occupational Gimmicks From WWE's PG Era

5. Los Matadores - Bullfighters

How on earth did the Los Matadores gimmick last as long as it did? The answer to that lies inside a small bull costume, in the shape of El Torito. Primo & Epico were repackaged as two masked bullfighters in 2013, with little Torito as their mascot, and seemingly wearing Tito Santana's old El Matador gear.

The bullfighting gimmick was entertaining for about a week, before it was clear that the ceiling had already been met and Primo & Epico were merely counting down until they could move on to something else.

That something else surfaced in 2016, when the two were seemingly repackaged as Puerto Rican tourism promoters. The jury is still out on this one.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
