10 Old-Time 'Rasslin' Traditions WWE Should Kill In Order To Live

2. The Royal Rumble Is Irrelevant And Should Be Replaced

In the same WWE, there's now two separate ways to guarantee a shot at the WWE Championship. One involves climbing a ladder against five (or six) other opponents and retrieving a briefcase, the other involves winning a random draw entry battle royal with staggered entrances. One of these ideas is incredibly exciting and full of intrigue, one of these allows for a moment in the match where one man (rather illogically I might add) eliminates 5-10 people, oftentimes in rapid succession. As well, we as fans often know long before the Royal Rumble who's going to win the match, so it's more a situation where we're just sitting patiently and waiting for 28 other entrances and eliminations before getting to the final two. That level of melodrama is inconsistent with a society where things happen in rapid-fire motion. In a sign of the times, what about WWE removing the Royal Rumble, and maybe instead doing a one-night "King of the Ring" tournament for the right to wrestle at WrestleMania. In fact, making that a 32-man tournament that starts on the first Raw of the year could be a concept to consider.
