10 Old WWE Gimmick Matches That Need To Say In The Past

8. Hog Pen Match

Triple H Hog Pen Match

WWE’s first Hog Pen match took place in December 1995, when Triple H (still working his rich snob Hunter Hearst Helmsley gimmick) wrestled Henry O. Godwinn, a pig farmer from Arkansas. It was their attempt at putting Godwinn over by having him embarrass his blue blood rival by throwing him into a pen full of pigs, mud, and lord knows what else.

Godwinn technically lost the bout, but Helmsley was the one left humiliated. The future Triple H picked a fight with Hillbilly Jim afterwards, and wound up swimming in filth inside the pen. While the sight of Helmsley in such a degrading predicament was (and still is) entertaining, the match was rough, and should’ve been consigned to the scrapheap there and then.

Unfortunately, WWE decided to resurrect the Hog Pen match in 2009, when Santino Marella clashed with Vickie Guerrero. This one was a little different in that the contest started in the pen, resulting in next to no wrestling, but plenty of rolling around in the muck. To make matters worse, Marella was working his ‘Santina’ gimmick at the time and therefore entered the bout dressed as a woman, compounding the farce.
