Date Last WWE Title Won: March 5th, 2017

Age: 50 years, 2 months, 6 days

Back when commentators actually used to protect and nurture the talent they were talking about, short squashes featuring limited big men would be justified by Gorilla Monsoon or Vince McMahon noting coyly that talent 'don't get paid by the hour'.

It's a good job too. It took an awful lot of money to bring Goldberg out of retirement for a surprisingly successful WWE run, but Big Bill spent less than 10 minutes total between the ropes during his 2016-2017 comeback tour. Fortunately, all four matches featured his trademark explosiveness, with his tenure creatively stage-managing the transition of the Universal Title away from Kevin Owens to Brock Lesnar.

Kept ageless by virtue of the short sharp shocks of offence, Goldberg looked older and wiser but no less intense as he ripped through foes with the same devastating presence he'd had in his WCW pomp.

In a post-show farewell to the crowd the night after his WrestleMania loss to 'The Beast', Goldberg even hinted that the match may not have been his last. The magic of the run seemed to shock audiences and the man himself alike, with both sides seemingly hopeful that he'll make another crowd-pleasing return sooner rather than later.
