Sting's long-overdue WWE run would be cut depressingly short, after he suffered a career-ending injury in what was his only WWE main event and final match. The Icon was 56 years old by this point, his body banged up from decades of wear and tear and sacrifice for the professional wrestling industry.

His opponent was a man at the other end of the spectrum, as he went one-on-one for the WWE World Championship against a then-29 Seth Rollins. Rollins himself would be injured not long after this match, but their bout at Night of Champions 2015 stands as the 7th oldest PPV singles main event to date.

Sting would officially retire less than a year later, his WWE pay-per-view record a miserable 0-2.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
