1. Okada Holds On
https://twitter.com/DeathToAllMarks/status/684022843668086784 The main event of the evening was the encapsulation of a 3 year+ feud between two of the biggest stars in Japanese wrestling. Hiroshi Tanahasi vs Kazuchika Okada. The Takahashi/Okada rivalry, now a grand total of 8
amazing matches, will undoubtably go down in history as one of the best feuds of this generation. Every time they meet, the two men create magic in the ring, and last night was no exception. Last year, at Wrestle Kingdom 9, the two men met in the main event. Takahashi was the IWGP Heavyweight Champion, the ring veteran who successfully fended off his young challenger. This time, Okada was the champion looking to cement his place at the top of the company, and, after a gruelling 36 minute match, he did just that. One of the biggest, if not
the biggest, spots of the night was simply a man holding onto another man's wrist. Seems tame, but it was the story that made the moment so special. Last year, Okada had been reckless and sloppy, and it had cost him everything. After he lost, he broke down in tears. This year, he was determined to hold on his championship with every last bit of strength he had. Okada's finisher is the Rainmaker Clothesline. To execute it, he grabs his opponent's wrist and pulls him into a lariat, which drops them (almost) on their head. Okada grabbed Takahashi's wrist and had him set up for the clothesline when, suddenly, Tanahashi slapped him and both men fell to their knees. However, the camera zoomed in to see that Okada had maintained his grip on Takahashi's wrist. Moments later he caught him with not one, but two Rainmakers for the pinfall win. It was the perfect spot to cap off an exhausting, but fantastic match, and a brilliant night of wrestling. What were your favourite moments from Wrestle Kingdom 10? Let us know in the comments below.
