10 On-Screen WWE Couples That Had No Chemistry

Good lord I hated this story.

After a fantastic 2014, Rusev and Lana came into 2015 with high hopes. Instead, the Bulgarian Brute and the Ravishing Russian were fed to John Cena before constituting one half of the worst WWE story of the year, the godawful love quadrangle with Dolph Ziggler and Summer Rae.

WWE was hell-bent on turning Lana babyface, and they decided to do this by splitting her and Rusev up and stripping Lana of everything that made her such a compelling character in the first place. She lost her strength, she lost her independence, and she lost her conviction. She even lost her suit dress. She was paired with Dolph Ziggler, and the two became the least compatible couple in WWE memory.

Everything about the duo was awkward, their interactions coming across like two people plucked off the street and asked to portray a fairly complex idea through camera. They held hands like people who had just discovered they had hands, and kissed in such a way that made kissing look like an impossible task.

The entire debacle set Lana back somewhat, and she has since been coupled back up with real-life fiancé Rusev in a much more natural pairing. Dolph Ziggler and Lana's relationship will go down as one of the biggest mistakes in WWE's recent history, as the complete lack of chemistry between the two was just as frustrating as it was difficult to watch.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
