They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, but this isn't always the case. 'The Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase was one of the most dastardly charismatic heels of the 1980s, fully embodying his arrogant rich man persona. His son, Ted DiBiase Jr. was a talented young man, this much is true, but he didn't exactly have his father's charisma.

After breaking away from the successful Legacy faction, DiBiase was expected to become a big star. He was paired with Maryse, a terrifyingly-attractive and charismatic former Divas Champion. The pairing made sense as an entitled affluent pair, but something wasn't right.

The problem lay with DiBiase, and his seeming lack of confidence in the role. The duo had zero chemistry, and the normally magnetic Maryse was completely neutered. Contrast this with her pairing with real-life husband The Miz today, and you get a real feeling of 'what could have been'.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
