10 Opportunities WWE’s Already Missed With Sting

9. Sting Vs Randy Orton

This feud would almost write itself. In 2003, while part of Evolution, Randy Orton became "The Legend Killer" and feuded with the likes of Shawn Michaels and Mick Foley, while assaulting retired legends such as Harley Race, Sgt. Slaughter and Dusty Rhodes. It was around this time that Sting made his debut for Total Nonstop Action, a new promotion ran by Jeff Jarrett and at the time, affiliated with the National Wrestling Alliance. At their one year anniversary show, Sting teamed with Jarrett to take on AJ Styles and Syxxpac (Sean Waltman) and made three more appearances with the company through to 2004. He would officially join the TNA roster in 2006 and it would be his home until early this year. If Sting hadn't signed with TNA, and instead joined with WWE at this early juncture, a confrontation with Orton would have been inevitable. Vince McMahon wouldn't be able to pass up the opportunity to have one of his fastest rising stars go over the WCW guy. Working with a veteran like Sting would have been a great help to the young Orton. Between Sting's intensity and The Legend Killer's unstoppable energy, these two could have put on something really special together.
