Vince McMahon has often had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into realisation. This is a man who stymied Daniel Bryan's push - and would have continued to do so, had fans not to audibly rejected the returning Batista's 2014 Royal Rumble win.

Remarkably, the trust he has placed in his most loyal lieutenant - The Undertaker - was also earned, with some reluctance, following a dubious first impression. As 'Taker's first manager, Bruce 'Brother Love' Prichard had it, McMahon initially perceived his best-ever creation with some ambivalence. Logic would dictate that 'Taker's height was a boon - but somehow, McMahon was left with the impression that he resembled a basketball player.

He certainly hadn't covered himself in glory as a wrestler - he almost scuppered his chances of a WWF contract by wrestling through a dislocated hip in an understandably ponderous outing against Lex Luger at The Great American Bash 1990.

'Taker went on to impress McMahon during their almost-abandoned first meeting, and was awarded his legendary gimmick when an unnamed staffer remarked, offhandedly, that he had the look of an "old timey undertaker" about him.
