4. Marty Scurll

The Villain’s stock is rising, but sooner or later he is going to have to test himself against some of the great dastardly minds of wrestling history. Chris Jericho reinvented himself in 2008 as arguably the greatest heel character in modern wrestling, taking the suits and vocabulary of Nick Bockwinkel and putting a 21st century spin on the gimmick. Is Scurll the next evolution of this?

It is easy to see a lot of Chris Jericho in Marty Scurll. The Villain is an over the top personality who seems very at home playing a comedic role, but there is a seriously talented technician wrestling underneath the wacky histrionics. Scurll isn’t against looking like a fool, but keep in mind that he will likely break your fingers before the match ends.

Jericho vs. Scurll isn’t quite Master vs. Student, but it could easily become that. Scurll has the potential to become this generation’s Chris Jericho, although it is important to make abundantly clear that he is this generation’s Marty Scurll, first and foremost.

Still, for a mix of comedy and technical wrestling, Chris Jericho vs. Marty Scurll would be tough to beat.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
