10 Outrageous WrestleMania Moments That Made Mainstream News

2. Lawrence Taylor Main Events Wrestlemania 11

Much like Mr. T competing at the first couple of Wrestlemanias, the addition of Lawrence Taylor to the Wrestlemania 11 card brought huge global media coverage along with it. Taylor is generally considered one of the greatest NFL players of all time, and his butting of heads with Bam Bam Bigelow was a huge topic of discussion amongst wrestling fans, sports fans, and just the general public, particularly in the US. What was even more shocking was that L.T. wasn€™t just put into any Wrestlemania match, he was put into the main event! Whilst many long-time wrestling fans and even some superstars would argue that it was ridiculous to have a footballer in the main event spot of the biggest show of the year, Taylor would actually put in a decent enough performance as he got one over on Bigelow. In fairness, even if L.T. had stunk the joint up with his in-ring showing, he€™d already done what had been asked of him: bring eyes to the product. As far as bold moves go, putting a football player in the Mania main event is one of Vince McMahon€™s boldest. Either way, it achieved even more press coverage than Vinny Mac could possibly have hoped for.
