The true worth of a professional wrestler is tested when he or she is put in the ring with someone his or her equal or better. On the 4 December 2013 episode of NXT, Paige found herself booked against Natalya, the third-generation Hart family member with a knack for a very mat-based technical style.

Paige had been the undisputed leader of the women's division in NXT but had never competed against a worker whose talents exceeded hers. She very well could have folded, overwhelmed by the pressure of the moment. Add in the fact that Paige's championship was up for grabs and you have a situation that a lesser performer would have failed in.

Paige did not.

She wrestled a brilliant match, one that reinforced the trust management had in her. Furthermore, she looked like Natalya's equal, not some inexperienced young woman ruling the developmental land but unequipped to do battle with a main roster mainstay.

Paige won, naturally, but the women wrestled a match they, their employers, and fans could be proud of.
