10 Paige Matches That Prove WWE Has Misused Her In Women's Revolution
2. Paige Vs. Emma - NXT (24 July 2013)
To say the weight of the world was on Paige as she stepped into the squared circle for the finals of the NXT Women's Championship Tournament would be an understatement of epic proportions. Not only was Triple H and the rest of the brand's management entrusting the culmination of weeks of hard work by the women themselves and the bookers behind the scenes to her and Emma, he was trusting the British-born competitor to lead a women's wrestling renaissance.
The July 24, 2013 episode of NXT not only showcased two women hellbent on changing perceptions of women in sports entertainment, but it featured the youngest on-screen talent in all of WWE proving that she was ready to carry the mantle for her peers. Born into a wrestling family and raised in the double-tough British independent scene, she had prepared her entire life for that moment.
All of her hard work and dedication manifested in what was, to that point, the best women's wrestling match fans had seen since Trish Stratus and Lita were stealing shows out from underneath Triple H and Randy Orton in 2004.
In the end, despite hellish opposition from the vastly underrated Emma, Paige etched her name in the history books by becoming the first to ever hold the prestigious NXT Women's Championship. Triple H greeted her, congratulating her on her victory and in that moment, fans got a glimpse of the woman who could, and should, be the face of the women's revolution.
