A little under seven years after he'd beaten Harley Race at Starrcade 1983, Ric Flair did the honourable thing for Sting at The Great American Bash 1990. The event's VHS tape left nothing to the imagination by claiming, 'Wrestling's Greatest Champions Fight For Survival Against Rising Young Renegades'.

Way to almost paint Flair as the sympathetic old warhorse, WCW.

No matter, because fans in Baltimore were firmly behind the Stinger and the main event is 16 minutes of sheer wrestling class. This was Sting's night alright, and it'd be his coronation as NWA World Champion in front of screaming fans who longed to see him replace Ric; in his element, the legendary Jim Ross remarked on commentary that this was the star of the 80s trying to fend off the man who'd lead WCW through the 90s.

If you've never seen it, fire up the WWE Network and lose yourself in a time when Flair could do no wrong and Sting moved around the ring like a cat. That's made even more amazing by the fact he was recovering from a serious knee injury.
