10 Pay-Per-Views WWE Must Bring Back For Brand Split 2016
4. Halloween Havoc
Back in the day, WWE put some actual thought into what their pay-per-view sets were going to look like. The shows didn’t just look like a slightly bonus sized Raw. People took pride in their work then, dammit!
Think back to Royal Rumble 2000 with a taxi cab suspended above the entryway, or Armageddon 1999 with a freaking helicopter and tank brought into the arena as props, just for the hell of it. Because it was Armageddon! These sets helped make every show unique by giving each show its own visual identity. Outside of WrestleMania, this is a thing that rarely happens anymore.
WCW was also into constructing various sets for their pay-per-views. Perhaps the most noticeable one was the yearly Halloween Havoc. That show had a lot of scary things: dark lighting, scary noises, gravestones, Mike Tenay. Besides, everyone loves Halloween! And if they don’t, they’re probably a criminal.
Now, WWE doesn’t have to get super goofy and lose their s**t like they do every year around Halloween time with bad costume contests, and people getting hit over the head with pumpkins. But if they built a sweet set, and maybe gave us one horror themed match that didn’t involve an electric chair, and the show could be a bit of fun. Make it an annual tradition, and it seems like an easy way to make a late October pay-per-view stand out.
