10 People In Wrestling That Still Hold A Grudge Against CM Punk
10. Lana
In November 2019, CM Punk shockingly signed with Fox to be an analyst on WWE Backstage on their FS1 channel. Before the show was cancelled, he frequently aired his views on angles/matches unfiltered, discussing his honest opinions and not fearing any consequences from WWE brass unlike other guests on the show.
He gave his take on the much-contended storyline between Rusev and Lana/Bobby Lashley last year, mentioning how Rusev likely doesn’t want to continue working with his real-life wife in these melodramatic angles. He joked about having a "Loser Keeps Lana" match at WrestleMania with Lana being suspended above the ring in a shark cage, even tweeting ‘Loser keeps @LanaWWE match. Just booked you through mania, chica. You're welcome. @RusevBUL #WWEBackstage’.
Lana for one didn’t take kindly to his tweet, accusing Punk of making male chauvinist remarks. She tweeted in reply: ‘I know you've been away from @WWE for several years. Perhaps moving forward, you will favor #WWE and @FS1 by refraining from misogynistic comments like 'chica.' Thank you. #WWEBackstage’.
The tweet garnered a lot or replies online, with many suggesting Lana shouldn’t be offended by the Spanish word for 'girl'. It was an odd accusation, given Punk and his wife AJ Lee are notable feminists. Even Punk’s film last year, ‘Girl on the Third Floor’, had feminist undertones, featuring Punk being a lone man being stalked, in contrast from usual horror tropes.
When Rusev and Bobby clashed at WWE TLC with Lana at ringside, FOX tweeted Punk, ‘We’re sure @CMPunk is watching this one closely. #WWETLC’ to which Punk hilariously replied with a picture sans caption of the Chicago Blackhawks hockey game he was watching instead at the time.
