10 People Who Had No Business In Professional Wrestling
4. Giant Gonzales
These days, WWE routinely scouts former NFL players to try out for developmental. Theyre incredible athletes, so maybe with a couple years of training they can morph into a great wrestler. Perhaps this is what Ted Turner was thinking when the Atlanta Hawks NBA team let go of Jorge Gonzalez, and he quickly got him a job with WCW, despite never wrestling a match in his entire life.
That lack of experience painfully showed. The newly branded El Gigante was terrible. He was one of the absolute worst wrestlers to ever compete in a major promotion. He was in over his head, but its hard to be angry at him for taking the money and exposure that wrestling provided him.
Gigante soon ended up in the WWF, which makes it seem that Vince McMahon must not have not watched his competition at the time. The newly re-branded Giant Gonzalez was immediately given a massive push against The Undertaker, along with a naked muscular Bigfoot ring gear. Their WrestleMania IX match has gone down in one of the worst in the events history, because there's no other way it could have gone down.
After spending less than a year in the company, Vinces newest giant was gone from the wrestling business. Due to a series of injuries and health issues he never returned.
