10 Phrases Guaranteed To Anger Most Wrestling Fans
8. "Once In A Lifetime"
Oh, Vince McMahon, you lying sack of monkey turds. How many times must we be lied to before we stop trusting your BS proclamations?
Whether it's promising a main event that he knows is logistically impossible (remember that heavily-advertised Triple Threat match between The Rock, Triple H, and Stone Cold at Survivor Series '99 that never happened?) or using lies of omission to build hype for a match, Vince is basically a carnival barker without a conscience.
But this was about as egregious as marketing ploys get. The Rock vs. John Cena at WrestleMania 28 was advertised as a dream match that would decide, once and for all, which one-time face of the company was more dominant inside the ring.
And hey, it really was a great match. Maybe not the masterpiece that it was presumed to be, but definitely entertaining all the way through. And fans could rest comfortably knowing we'd witnessed a very special matchup that we'd never get to see again...
...until the very next year, at the very same event, in the exact same slot, when WrestleMania 29 gave us a rematch. A sequel to the event that was guaranteed to happen just "Once in a lifetime."
