10 Plot Holes On Every Episode Of WWE RAW

9. For A Match "Right Now!"

This is a hole dug by pure, infuriating contrivance that instantly depicts the events as fake. There's a certain sacred, unutterable connotation to that word in pro wrestling, but WWE isn't pro wrestling. WWE is sports entertainment, and sports entertainment is fake.

We know that because nothing is ever scheduled for the second segment. It is invariably booked on the fly with no pretence to the contrary. With no fixed card in place on what ostensibly is a sporting event, the faint sense of realism evaporates. WWE is neither a sporting event nor hyper-exaggerated Lucha Underground-style postmodern wrestling. It is its own idiosyncratic animal; a patently predetermined and deeply formulaic nonsense that, in just reaching for realism, completely and consistently undermines itself. This opening segment tripe dates back longer than a decade, playa, and accordingly is as predictable as the effectiveness of the first deployment of a finishing move. If Roman Reigns welcomes us to RAW on Monday, it is almost guaranteed that Jinder Mahal will interrupt him. If Seth Rollins cuts a promo, ladies and gentlemen: Elias.

Given that this is the go-home show for Money In The Bank, expect a slight but no less stupid variation in which the four Men's participants cut promos on top of ladders. Whether one such participant is actually able to climb depends on who bothered to remember the events of last week...
