10 Plot Holes From WWE History You Probably Missed

1. Triple H And Stephanie, Still Together

WWE.comWWE.comMany people never pointed this out as a plothole, mainly because it was the industry's worst kept secret. On screen, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon got divorced and were largely kept away from each other for the seven years after The Cerebral Assassin overcame both Stephanie and her then-partner-in-crime Chris Jericho in 2002. But the Billion Dollar Princess would be brought back into the line of fire in 2009 during Triple H's feud with Randy Orton. In order to secure a mental advantage over his former mentor, Orton went after Stephanie, who was now being acknowledged as his wife. It was a tremendous program (even if the WrestleMania XXV main event wasn't what it could've been), one that reached its apex when the predator Orton handcuffed Triple H to the ropes, attacked Stephanie and planted a kiss on her lifeless body as the now-COO watched on. Fans who are part of the IWC understood that the WWE were simply playing off the known fact that the pair were still very much together in real life, despite their on-screen fallout years prior. But that doesn't make it any less a story inconsistency, especially when you consider that the average fan, the type that WWE so desperately seeks, doesn't read dirt sheets and didn't know, at that time, that Triple H and Stephanie's marriage was still a thing.
