10 Plot Holes From WWE History You Probably Missed

2. CM Punk vs. Paul Heyman (Minus Brock Lesnar)

WWE.comWWE.comThis one is certainly related to the previous entry, but is quite a different story, because the WWE had every chance to patch this hole up. Last year CM Punk returned after a two month hiatus (if only we were so lucky in 2014!) at Payback in May, defeating Chris Jericho. The night after, he was mysteriously attacked by Brock Lesnar, which would spark a war between The Second City Saint and Paul Heyman, his previously trusted confidant. Their rivalry culminated at SummerSlam, where Lesnar faced and defeated Punk. But the program wouldn't end there - it would go on for two more months and three more pay-per-views, concluding at October's Hell In A Cell. The WWE never explained the three-time WWE Champion's absence, even though, unlike in all of Lesnar's other programs, they had the opportunity to do so. Why not have Heyman simply say 'Brock doesn't need to prove anything to you?' or some similarly heelish comment? Instead, Lesnar bailed but still left Paul to fend off Punk in the months that followed, and the explanation of that logic was never even attempted.
