10 Pointless Acts Of Wrestling Bravery That Were Totally Forgotten

The first (but not the last) mention of Chris Benoit in this list, the unadvertised Tables, Ladders and Chairs match that took place in May 2001 was a blockbuster typical of the era, but will remain dormant thanks to the rightful quietening of 'The Crippler's back catalogue.

Marking the first ever four-team variant of the chaotic stipulation, Benoit's inclusion alongside Tag Team Championship partner Chris Jericho added a new dimension to the well-worn Hardy Boyz/Dudley Boyz/Edge & Christian formula.

Featuring the usual array of death-defying stunts that had tragically become the norm at the tail-end of the Attitude Era, the match featured a leapfrog leg-drop from a giant ladder by Jeff Hardy through Bubba Ray Dudley and a table, a spear to Jericho from Edge from the top of a ladder, and a horrifyingly dangerous diving headbutt by Benoit from the ringpost to the arena floor through a table after his intended target Matt Hardy rolled out of the way.

The bump thankfully wasn't without totally without worth on the night, as a subsequent stretcher job left Jericho flying solo in his defence of the titles until 'The Rabid Wolverine' was able to make a heroic return and claim the gold for the Canadians.
