3. André The Giant

Turning heel cannot have been a decision that André The Giant took lightly.

The beloved big man had carved a niche for himself as everyone's favourite friendly giant for years, and he would've had significant box office appeal elsewhere had he left the WWF behind instead of agreeing to go bad. André must've known that it'd be worth it however, especially because he'd be turning on golden goose Hulk Hogan.

Somehow, despite being a huge deal as face, The Giant felt even more important as a villain. The Hogan feud helped, but so did the WWF's presentation. They put Bobby Heenan in André's corner, and had the manager vow that his new man would vanquish 'Hulkamania' for good at WrestleMania III.

This, without doubt, was the biggest match in WWF history up until that point. Suddenly, the same people who had cheered André for years booed him out of buildings, and that only intensified until Hulk slammed the big guy at 'Mania.

Good times.
