10 Positives Heading Into WWE Fastlane 2017
1. Good All-Round Storytelling
Following on from that previous point, there’s been a noticeable improvement on Raw’s all-round storytelling during the build to Fastlane.
As well as Rollins’ long-awaited character development, and Braun Strowman’s aforementioned cerebral side, the writers have seemingly been giving some subtle nods towards potential plans that could lie in store.
One such example has been Kevin Owens’ use of language. Since his shady backstage meeting with Triple H a few weeks ago, and his subsequent betrayal of Chris Jericho, Owens’ promos have made touched upon how he knows “how to play the Game” as well as “the Evolution of Kevin Owens as Universal Champion.”
While it may just be coincidence, it certainly seems like those are very deliberate references to Triple H, and references that may be foreshadowing a more public alliance between Owens and Hunter in the not-too-distant future.
Those subtle touches follow on from Triple H’s cryptic talk of Rollins meeting “his destroyer” - a man who was later revealed to be Samoa Joe, rather than Triple H himself. It's this kind of attention to the finer details that has added an extra dimension to storylines in the lead up to Fastlane.
That has to be seen as a good thing.
