10 Positives Heading Into WWE SummerSlam 2016

3. Women’s Title Change

I guess you could argue this one either way; on the one hand, with Sasha Banks beating Charlotte for the Women’s Championship so recently, their SummerSlam meeting is now a rematch of a contest we’ve already seen before.

But then again, having Sasha defeat Charlotte was hardly the expected scenario. For months, people have been claiming that Sasha would return and mount a chase for the title, with the culmination of her quest for glory arriving at the summer PPV.

And yet, the WWE turned the tables on that by giving Sasha her moment a little prematurely on the first post-Draft showing of Raw.

Personally, I think that’s a positive. Mixing it up is never a bad thing, especially in today’s age of leaked storylines and possible spoilers on what to expect in the future. Plus, it’s made for a much better programme than having Sasha face Dana Brooke, week after week, until Charlotte finally granted her a shot at the title.

Maybe it will put something of a dampener on their subsequent match at SummerSlam. But for the sake of the pre-PPV build, at least, I wouldn’t say the title change was a negative.
