10 Post-WWE Runs That Were Nothing Like We Expected

9. Drew McIntyre

The Chosen One was an obvious star in the making when he debuted on SmackDown in 2009. Presented as a prodigious young heel, McIntyre quickly became IC champion and was starting to garner decent crowd heat. Sadly, a rather embarrassing incident at the Playboy Mansion with ex-wife Taryn Terrell derailed his momentum. WWE punished him with a drop down the card. In place of his old winning streak, he now got to enjoy a losing one.

A comedy run in 3MB appeared to be the final nail in the coffin for McIntyre with WWE releasing him in 2014. Bulking up more than ever before, Drew Galloway quickly became the hardest working man on the indies and a great lead character for Impact Wrestling. Winning gold all over the shop, Galloway was the main event everywhere he went.

It was an impressive display from a wrestler many considered burnt out just a few years prior. Even more impressive was his work leading to a second chance in WWE where he is now the promotion's top babyface. Still the Chosen One after all, his original post-WWE run is one of the most impressive career turn arounds in professional wrestling history.
