10 Potential Opponents For A Goldberg Return At WrestleMania 32

In his blog, Jim Ross recently speculated on some big returns for WrestleMania 32, stating: 'The two most viable stars that WWE could bring in for WM32 or so it seems might be Goldberg and Batista. Austin and HBK are adamant that their wrestling days are history, Hogan is still on the outs with the company plus he doesn't need to wrestle a match with his back condition and Rock has movie commitments I'm told as does Ronda Rousey'. Although appearing to rule out several big names, the most interesting possibility must surely be Goldberg. The WCW legend hasn't appeared in WWE since his infamous match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX in 2004, which was the end of what is generally seen as a tremendously disappointing run. Many fans would certainly be eager to see the return of one of the icons of the Monday Night Wars, but the success of his appearance would be dependent on who his opponent was. There are various viable options for who Goldberg could square off with, should he return to the company next April, from current WWE superstars to fellow giants of the 1990s. Here are ten potential opponents for Da Man on the Grandest Stage of Them All.

10. Ryback

No WWE superstar in history has been more compared to Goldberg than Ryback. The artist formerly known as Skip Sheffield was mercilessly taunted with 'Goldberg' chants from the moment he debuted his current persona on the main roster in 2012. He's since managed to shake them, but seems to have lost all momentum, too, and currently exists as a lukewarm midcard babyface. While it's not the feud we'd all really like to see (unless you happen to be a massive Ryback fan, in which case I'm very sorry), the backstory writes itself. Goldberg returns and calls out the Big Guy out for copying his shtick, Ryback stands his ground, and the pair grunt at one another for several months until the big 'Mania showdown. It's hardly ideal, but is perhaps the easiest route WWE could take - and we all know just how enamoured they've been with the easy route in the past month or so...
