10 Potential Superstars That Could Succeed Roman Reigns As WWE Champion

3. Sheamus

This may be the least exciting choice for the next WWE Champion, but it makes sense if you consider the potential WrestleMania match-ups involving Sheamus. With Roman Reigns likely meeting Triple H, and injuries sustained to Cena, Rollins, and Daniel Bryan, Sheamus walking into WrestleMania as WWE Champion seems like a very real, if disappointing, possibility. The Irishman recently squared off against Brock Lesnar at non-televised live events, perhaps in anticipation for a future, bigger match down the road? This is a strategy WWE used to employ going back 20-30 years by booking dark matches at house shows in order for the two wrestlers to perfect their match by the time the big PPV rolled around. With Brock also having no clear opponent for WrestleMania, a battle with Sheamus for the WWE Championship would be a match that WWE is be preparing for. It's not likely that the match would draw 100,000 people and probably not the ideal opponent for Brock at WrestleMania, but with all of the current circumstances, the storyline of Lesnar challenging for the title he never lost against the heel champion Sheamus might be what WWE goes with.
