10 Potentially Invalid Reasons You Still Watch WWE

4. The "Moments"

A cash-in. A dastardly heel turn. A plucky underdog overcoming the odds and winning the big one. Icons facing Icons. Whatever it is, WWE have become masters at stringing fans along long enough to experience jaw-dropping moments that send chills down your spine as a wrestling fan.

It is an unfortunate fact that despite its flaws and inadequacies, WWE continues to produce moments that capture the imagination; be it through incredible matches or breathtaking visuals.

Given the scope and scale of WWE's production, it is forever capable of producing video packages or presenting audiences with seemingly iconic moments despite the other 80% of the product being monotonous and inconsistent. It's no secret that the company's business model is to floor audiences with spectacular moments of brilliance while keeping itself ticking over, choosing to ignore any value in long-term storytelling with its belief that modern audiences can't sustain viewership or that it simply isn't needed.

That moment where we first saw AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura lock eyes between the rungs of a ladder, the Fiend emerging out of the depths behind a battered Seth Rollins, the ability for WWE to put together a thumbnail for its content is amazing, and this is the approach they maintain.

The cruel reality is that WWE will continue to bank on the idea that fans will stick around for the chance to see a Daniel Bryan win the championship or for someone to break a record and for that to be a major deal to fans.
