10 Powerful Wrestling Promos That Never Uttered A Word

Jim Ross has a mantra: maximise your minutes.

He said this quite frequently in his old Ross Report blog, which was basically a tacit b*llocking aimed at the lunkheaded dafties under his purview. Everybody was too overweight or too boring for the Head of Talent Relations.

"He needs to add a little "sizzle" to his "steak" - no, not like that, you fat f*ck!"

One would therefore infer that Ross was very pleased at the means by which Sammy Guevara established himself in the early days of AEW Dynamite. Guevara maximised his minutes with some superb, characterful performances, in which he became meme fodder, but he even maximised his seconds in picture and picture.

Ordinarily "that bit of the match where you slow down the heat spot", Guevara spotted it as a further opportunity to get over. It has taken on not great connotations now, his letching-with-cue-cards bit, but the man made you squint where virtually every other performer allowed your eyes to glaze over before the real action returned. This inspired creativity even allowed him to cut funny promos that actually told the stories of his feuds.

Ross would be proud. Provided Guevara doesn't do a topé or anything.

"That won't get ya to the pay window, Christ almighty!"
