9. Kenny Omega Vs. Sammy Guevara (AAA World Heavyweight Title Match) - AEW Dynamite, 25 March
These two wrestlers in a singles match, without any stakes involved, has the potential to be a classic. Throw in Kenny Omega defending his AAA Mega Heavyweight Championship - the biggest title in Mexico's AAA promotion - and this would be a match that could steal an entire pay-per-view.
Omega and Guevara complement each other brilliantly in the ring. The Best Bout Machine delivers wicked strikes and hard hitting suplexes, while there are few wrestlers in the industry who can match The Spanish God's ability to sell moves and bump. These wrestlers possess incredible work rates and barely gave each other time to breath with the speed at which they were reversing each others moves.
Guevara threw everything at Omega, hitting him with hard strikes, a Springboard Cutter, and a Spanish Fly out of nowhere - which is not an easy move to surprise someone with. It seemed as though we were about to see a new AAA champion crowned, but Omega managed to create some room by dodging Guevara's Shooting Star Press from the top rope.
Omega managed to collect himself and hit Guevara with two V-Triggers, a J-Driller and the One- Winged Angel, to put him away and retain his championship. This match was fantastic and, in AEW's second show without a live audience, it set the bar for match quality in the empty arena era.
It wouldn't be surprising to see these two wrestlers headlining a pay-per-view in the future, with AEW's top prize on the line.
