10 Predictions For WWE Payback After Extreme Rules
10. Lana Will Turn Her Back On Rusev
One of the matches that we know for certain will take place three weeks from now is the grand finale in the Rusev/Cena war; an I Quit match. While it's difficult to predict how the WWE can keep fans interested in a feud consisting of four straight PPV matches, there appears to be only one story element that's in any way different from what we've seen for the last few months. The Lana/Rusev partnership is coming to an end. While this is terrible news for Rusev, Lana's superb managerial skills being one of the key factors in him having one of the finest rookie years in recent memory, it seems unavoidable at this point. Lana is simply too popular for the Bulgarian Brute. Case in point, at Extreme Rules, the crowd started to chant "We Love Lana" and erupted into cheers when she took to the ring apron to acknowledge their affection. Furious about this for some reason, Rusev scolded her and sent her, humiliated, to the back. The month before that, he screamed at her for, as he perceived it, costing him his match at Wrestlemania. When Lana announced to Rusev that she had secured the I Quit match for him at Payback, she was a shadow of her former self, shy and crushed. Expect this behaviour to continue for three weeks before she finally takes charge of her life and turns her back on Rusev, costing him the victory on purpose this time. It's possible that this all just a double bluff, and that WWE is teasing the breakup only for Rusev to be victorious, but that would involve Cena losing an I Quit match, which has never ever happened.
