7. New Horsewomen Arise In NXT

NXT’s women’s division has unquestionably suffered since the Four Horsewomen departed. Asuka has done her best to hold it down, but there are times when her supporting cast has looked flimsy at best. It speaks volumes that WWE had to bring Mickie James in as an outsider to challenge for the NXT Women’s Championship in Toronto, but things are finally looking up.

Ember Moon is set to breakout as the brand’s next big thing. She’s got the in-ring chops to go toe-to-toe with anyone in the company, her popularity increases every week, and she’s already helping carry the division on her back. It looks increasingly like Ember will be the one who finally wrests the title from Asuka’s clutches, and there’d be few complaints if this happened.

Aside from her, NXT’s other young hopefuls are also showing great promise. Nikki Cross has barely wrestled so far, but anyone who saw her in action pre-WWE knows her talents, and her borderline feral character should mesh well with Asuka’s increasing cold-heartedness. Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, meanwhile, have found traction as the brand’s biggest heels, Daria Berenato already carries herself like a huge star, and below them, the likes of Liv Morgan and Aliyah are also growing in prominence.

That’s without considering the new signings set to arrive at the Performance Center next year, and anyone else WWE choose to pick-up throughout 2017. If these women continue on their growth curves, there’s a strong chance we’ll have a new set of Horsewomen on our hands by December.
