3. Charlotte Vs. Bayley: WrestleMania 33's Pre-Main Event

2016 saw the first all-female main event in WWE history as Charlotte and Sasha Banks fought at Hell In A Cell, and while the execution wasn’t perfect, the duo’s names are forever etched in history. It will finish as one of the year’s biggest talking points, and confirmation of the incredible strides the women’s division has made this year. The prospect of two women headlining a WWE PPV would’ve been preposterous a year ago, but it happened in 2016, and it’ll likely happen again in 2017.

The women are now among WWE’s biggest stars, and the Women’s Revolution is one of the company’s biggest assets. They’ll always be featured near the top of the card from now on, and after wrestling midway through WrestleMania 32’s busy card this year, they’ll get a significant bump next year.

Mania 33’s main event spot is entirely up for grabs, but it’s too early to suggest that the women will take this spot on the biggest show of the year. Instead, WWE could do a whole lot worse than let them go second last. Pit Charlotte, the division’s biggest heel, and Bayley, the biggest babyface, against one another, and placing the Raw Women’s Title match in the pre-main slot is an easy sell. Such prominent placement would be a natural progression from HIAC, and another huge step in the Revolution’s ongoing ascension.
