10 Pro Wrestlers Accused Of Heinous Crimes
7. Stone Cold Steve Austin
By many metrics, Stone Cold Steve Austin is the biggest star the American professional wrestling industry has ever seen. His rise to the top of WWE in 1997 and 98 helped bring the company to new heights and ultimately, put primary competitor WCW out of business. When he walked out of WWE prior to the June 10, 2002 edition of Monday Night Raw, fans were stunned, but it was nothing compared to what would happen just days later.
On June 15, police were called to the house Austin shared with his wife, WWE Diva Debra Marshall. Marshall was found beaten, and in August, Austin was charged with domestic abuse. He pled no contest in November and was sentenced to probation, a fine, and community service.
The story didn't stop there, though. In 2007 -- in the wake of the Chris Benoit murders -- Marshall appeared on Fox News and opened up about the abuse she suffered. She claimed Austin beat her on three separate occasions, once pulling a gun on her and threatening her life. There was another incident involving Austin, as well -- in 2004, his ex-girlfriend Tess Broussard accused the former WWE Champion of shoving her down during an argument.
