10 Pro Wrestlers Accused Of Heinous Crimes

3. Jimmy Snuka

Jimmy Snuka Murder

WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka is a part of the company's family, making frequent appearances on broadcasts while being venerated as a legend. His history with WWE spans a number of significant milestones, from cornering Hulk Hogan at the first WrestleMania to becoming the first victim of The Undertaker's streak at the seventh. His Superfly Splash off the top of a steel cage onto Don Muraco in front of a stunned Madison Square Garden crowd has become the stuff of legend.

A part of Snuka's history that has often been overlooked over the years is the 1983 death of his girlfriend, 23-year-old Nancy Argentino. Responding to a call placed by Snuka, police found Argentino suffering from cranial injuries in the couple's Pennsylvania hotel room. She died hours later. Snuka first stated that he pushed Argentino to the ground, but later claimed that she had slipped by the side of the road and hit her head. The forensic pathologist who performed the autopsy wrote -- in light of the many contusions he found on Argentino's body -- that the case should be treated as a homicide.

During the course of the investigation, Vince McMahon met with authorities along with Snuka. Then-Assistant DA Robert Steinberg described McMahon as "effusive." No criminal charges were ever brought against Snuka, though Argentino's parents won a $500,000 civil judgment which the WWE mainstay has never paid, citing an inability to do so. In recent years, the case has been re-opened, with Snuka named a person of interest.
