Jose Huertas Gonzalez -- better known as Invader #1 -- is a wrestling star in his home of Puerto Rico, but to the rest of the world, he's mainly known as the man who killed the legendary Bruiser Brody. Gonzalez took Brody into the showers to "discuss business" prior to a show in Bayamon, and when the rest of the locker heard groans, Tony Atlas ran in to check what had happened. He found Gonzalez with a knife and Brody doubled over. Bruiser Brody would die the next morning during surgery.

Though initially Gonzalez was charged with first-degree murder, it was later reduced to involuntary homicide. Gonzalez pled not guilty, citing self-defense. Many of the pro wrestlers in the locker room at the time were too frightened to testify against Gonzalez, fearing a similar fate as Brody. Dutch Mantel (WWE's Zeb Colter), who wanted to testify, received his subpoena after the acquittal had already been announced.

Why was Brody killed? Speculation ranges from jealousy on the part of Gonzalez to Brody's reputation for being difficult to work with. Some believe that promoter (and undisputed godfather of Puerto Rican wrestling) Carlos Colon played a part in covering up the murder. Either way, in the years since the 1988 killing, Gonzalez has been pushed as a hero in Puerto Rico, while promoters abroad have exploited his infamy.
