10 Problems Nobody Wants To Admit About WrestleMania 33

1. The Part-Timers Are Necessary

Talking about WrestleMania 33 without mentioning WWE’s over-reliance on part-timers is almost impossible. The show will likely close with Lesnar vs. Goldberg, and with Triple H, Shane McMahon, and The Undertaker all occupying prominent slots, this is very much the year of the casual WWE wrestler.

The main point of contention is that these wrestlers are hogging spots that should belong to younger, hungrier performers. It’s a strong case, but sadly, WWE’s use of part-timers is completely necessary, and it’s all their own creation. As great as guys like Kevin Owens are, they just don’t have the same level of star-power as their ageing colleagues, and as a result, they can’t be relied on to carry the show.

WWE lost their ability to create new stars a long time ago, and it has forced them to depend on those who made their names in bygone eras. Unless WWE find a way to completely revamp the way they push new wrestlers, this is how it’s going to be. The real question is what happens when the likes of The Undertaker are forced into retirement? For now, fans just have to accept this problem, and that the Goldbergs of the world are the only wrestlers who still pop ratings.
