10 Problems Stone Cold Will Never Admit About WrestleMania 32 Return
2. Creative Freedom
Over the years, Steve Austin and Vince McMahon have had their fair share of disagreements regarding the creative direction of both the Stone Cold character and the company as a whole, leading to some tension between the two. Many of those disagreements occurred at a time when the environment was favorable to Austin's on-screen persona. With the landscape drastically changed and the direction of the company significantly different from what it was at his peak popularity, the chances of backstage clashes between the more conservative McMahon and the rebellious Austin increases tenfold. So intense have the differences between the two been that Austin walked out of the company in 2002, as you will recall from earlier in this piece. Austin has always been a logical thinker who wants very much to remain true to the Stone Cold character. Everything he does has to make sense within the context of the story being told and unfortunately, McMahon no longer sweats the small things, leading to inconsistencies with his current product. That is likely to drive Austin nuts, especially if he really is considering coming out of retirement to face Lesnar at WrestleMania 32. The last thing the Texas Rattlesnake wants to do is leave his character in the hands of a creative team that has been anything but consistent, anything but true to the characters they write. And if that is the case, expect to hear about heated clashes and debates that throw the potential match between Austin and Lesnar into jeopardy.
