8. Current Superstar Resentment
Austin has repeatedly stated on his Steve Austin Show podcast that he wants to see today's generation of stars step up and make stars out of themselves. The problem with that thinking is that the greatest stage for today's Superstars to do that is WrestleMania. Unfortunately, WWE has made a habit out of dusting off part time performers to compete at the Showcase of the Immortals, thus robbing today's talent of spots in meaningful matches. Back in 2012, CM Punk was very vocal about The Rock coming back and taking a main event opportunity from the deserving stars who work year-round for the opportunity to perform in the marquee match at 'Mania. Those sentiments would almost assuredly be echoed by the Superstars on today's roster, who work hard and travel the globe in hopes of achieving the same level of success that Austin did. Superstars such as Dean Ambrose, Roman Regins, Seth Rollins, Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus, Rusev, Kevin Owens and Neville have spent years scratching and clawing their way to WWE. Some find themselves in higher positions then others but all have the goal to one day be the top star in the industry. Seeing opportunities stolen from them in order to pop a buyrate with older stars will not only turn them against Austin but the writing staff that has done them no favors time and time again.
