10 Problems Stone Cold Will Never Admit About WrestleMania 32 Return

7. Does Brock WANT To Work With Austin?

To say Steve Austin and Brock Lensar have history together would be an understatement. Back in 2002, as Lesnar was in the midst of the monumental push that would land him in the main event and his first run with the WWE Championship, a King of the Ring qualifying round match was booked between he and Austin for the June 10 episode of Raw. Austin refused, leaving Atlanta and leaving the show without its top star. In the weeks and months that proceeded Austin revealed his frustration with WWE Creative and the idea that they would so haphazardly throw away a big money main event on just any episode of Raw. It had nothing to do with jobbing to Brock, he explained, he just did not like the idea of wasting a star of his power on putting over a young guy in a match that would be forgotten rather than waiting until Lesnar was a legitimate star in his own right and promoting the huge bout. Austin's explanation made sense but it still rubbed his employers wrong. And how did Brock feel about it, knowing that Austin left because he did not want to work with him that evening? A lot of time has passed since that fateful night 13 years ago but a major roadblock preventing Austin vs. Lesnar may be the latter's willingness to do business with the guy who refused to work with him.
