There's a popular line from the 1992 US presidential campaign, "It's the economy, stupid", which addressed the glaring problems with the then political era. We can lend much of the same sentiment for the current WWE era, "it's the wrestling, stupid." WWE has grown into a big convoluted institution which can't see the wood for the trees. They focus on grandiose ideas like WWE Studios when in essence all they really need to do is promote wrestling matches. It seems crazy, but WWE don't actually broadcast much wrestling. Take a look at your average three hour Raw, take out all of the adverts, take out all of the segments, how much wrestling do you actually end up with? Not much and even then, the majority of matches are three minute nothing bouts. Meaningful wrestling happens only three to four times a month in WWE. We love WWE at the same time as accepting it's the biggest problem we have as wrestling fans. It is kind of like a marriage, we are in love, but the wear of the domestic years are challenging! The issue is that Vince McMahon has ran the empire for over three decades, making it a monopoly along the way. Is any institution effective when managed by the same emperor for so long, operating as a monopoly to ensure we have no other wrestling to watch? The biggest problem we have is that whether WWE is good or bad, we're going to watch it any way. It must be one of the strangest entertainer / fan relationships in the entire world.
