What’s the difference between the wrestling styles of Konnor from The Ascension and Braun Strowman? Is there one? Braun is more impactful because he’s a bigger guy, but apart from that, they are basically the same. NXT and the performance centre breed a particular kind of talent, and it’s beginning to show.
And there are some things that they are great at. When it comes to walking down the ramp and posing to the crowd, few do it better than WWE Performance Centre graduates. They hit all the right marks. It’s just a shame that they aren’t that great when they step into the ring.
Compare the Performance Centre alumni to the current group of Young Lions in New Japan, and you’ll see the problem. Not only are those kids with their stupid haircuts and black tights already better wrestlers but the likes of Hirai Kawato have got more charisma too. You can spend millions of pounds on the facility, but until you learn to mix things up a bit, you'll keep creating the same thing.
